About the Site Lackawanna Energy Center is a nominal 1500 MW combined cycle power generation facility using GE’s 7HA gas turbine platform.
The facility is located in the borough of Jessup, Pennsylvania (near Scranton, PA).

Job Description Summary As an O&M Technician – (I&C) Instrumentation and Controls, you will be the technical expert for operations and maintenance of instrumentation, controls systems and electrical equipment in the power plant.
The O&M Technician with a I&C emphasis will work with a collaborative group of Instrumentation, controls and electrical professionals to perform work of high skill in the inspection, repair, testing, calibrations, installation and removal of all electronic power plant equipment and systems to support the safe and reliable operations of the facility at the Lackawanna Energy Center.
The O&M Technician –Instrumentation and Controls reports to the LEC Maintenance Manager.
Responsibilities Ensure work is completed in a safe, environmentally compliant manner in a timely fashion to minimize downtime and maximize availability of the facility.
Ability to handle daily communication of expectations, work with multiple parties with differing perspectives, provide feedback and work collaboratively with others.
Communication and interpersonal skills to manage and motivate employees and use oral and written communication to communicate objectives and action plans.
Fully maintains the use of a Computerized Maintenance Management System by displaying a proficiency in using the system and dedication to the facility maintenance values.
Performs CMMS data entry, parts assignments and work order close-out in a comprehensive and detailed method following the LEC workflow procedures.
Inspect, repair, install, and remove all types of motors, generators, transformers, switches, control equipment, wiring, electrical signal and communication systems, and storage batteries, and work with electrical systems at the facility.
Install, troubleshoot, and maintain DCS and PLC logic systems with the ability to develop and modify PLC code utilizing PC based configuration software.
Participate in routine corrective, preventative and equipment maintenance with system improvements using facility operating procedures and equipment technical manuals to sustain and repair facility equipment and verify equipment is operated within operating range.
Maintain all plant instrumentation, controls, and electrical equipment by analyzing plant operations through the DCS system and, under direction, make configuration and program changes to modify operations and interface new plant equipment.
Maintains the cleanliness of all areas of the plant as required by LEC.
Coordinates IC&E work with contractors as necessary.
Complete other tasks as assigned by the Maintenance Manager Required Skills Minimum 2 years of technical experience (mechanical, electrical, etc.
) and/or technical education.
High School diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
Ability to work well with others and be self-directed, as well as apply creative solutions to unique I&C problems.
Strong computer skills to interact and prioritize day-to-day workloads following LEC workflow path via the CMMS system (EAM), documenting findings, work completed along with signing out parts used for each project and other MS Office programs.
A high degree of flexibility and the capacity to work in a rapidly changing and ambiguous environment.
Experienced at troubleshooting and maintaining distributed control systems, Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) system Possess excellent diagnostic and repair skills for dealing with complicated evolutions in electrical generation and distribution systems.
Effective abilities in troubleshooting and correcting DCS to I/O to field device issues Must have experience working with and troubleshooting different types of automatic valves and actuators.
Identify, interpret, and effectively utilize drawings and documentation related to electrical and process controls including Electrical One-line diagrams, Elementary diagrams, wiring schematics, control schematics, P&ID’s, Cause and Effect diagrams, Instrument Loop diagrams, Interconnect diagrams, etc.
Must have experience and understanding of NEC, NFPA 70E, NERC regulations.
Preferred Skills Technical degree a plus Two (2) years of experience in a power generation facility Turbine control systems Mk VIe experience a plus Knowledge of combined cycle power plant maintenance and operations is preferred Experience with PI ProcessBook preferred Operate a fork truck and other similar plant equipment.
Commissioning experience in a combined cycle facility a plus.
Specific knowledge of the maintenance requirements of 7HA combustion turbines a plus.
