_*AGGREGATE AND ASPHALT PLANT LAB TECHNICIAN:*_
_Responsibilities:_
* The primary responsibility of the Aggregate and Asphalt Plant Lab Technician is to oversee and perform daily quality control testing on asphalt mixes, conduct analysis of aggregate samples, perform lab production and testing of asphalt emulsions, and evaluate asphalt mixes.
* Perform routine testing of hot mix asphalt products and make recommendations on adjustments to crushing and asphalt plant settings to ensure compliance with job, agency, or state specifications.
* Perform data collection and reporting to meet job and PennDOT specifications.
* Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor.
_PREFER candidates with the following certifications and skills:_
* NECEPT Asphalt Plant Level 2 Certification.
* NECEPT Aggregate Technician Certification.
* A solid understanding and experience in PennDOT material specifications (Pub 408 and other related Bulletins/Publications).
* Solid experience in, and a strong knowledge of, the PennDOT Bituminous Electronic State Book (ESB).
* Ability to design asphalt mixes and submit them accordingly.
* Possess skills and knowledge to perform all relevant testing.
* Ability to assist in designing and enforcing compliance with the Quality Control Plan.
_Candidates are REQUIRED to have the following skills and certifications:_
* Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License.
* Must be able to work overtime as needed (including nights and weekends); and travel to and work at Plains, PA facility on occasion.
* Ability to lift and carry 60 pounds of aggregates.
* The ability to work in a team environment with production and sales personnel, as well as the ability to work independently without close supervision.
* Must have solid math and reading skills and the ability to understand technical manuals.
* Have strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
* The successful candidate will be organized, have strong attention to detail, solid record-keeping skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be very customer focused.
* High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
Prefer Associates Degree or higher depending on experience.
* All employees must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening test, and be willing to submit to, and pass, random drug/alcohol testing.
