Purpose:
Responsible for supervising a line or cell in the Production Department for 1st shift
Responsible for diagnosing and resolving production problems on the shift maintaining schedules and product quality, reporting inventories, assigning jobs, insuring compliance and administering policies and procedures in a union environment.
Shift - 7am-4:30pm M-F (Weekend shifts as assigned)
Major Position Responsibilities:
Supervises personnel, equipment and product in an assigned area of the Production Department.
Diagnoses and recommends solutions to machine, tool and equipment problems, and write work orders for their repair.
Maintains production schedules and high quality product quality.
Collects and reports production quantities and inventories on a daily basis.
Assigns employees to jobs and ensures training in the operation of machinery safely.
Insures compliance with all process controls, such as work instructions, inspection policies, pertinent military standards and union contracts.
Promotes a safe and positive environment at all times, including in the use of equipment safely.
Communicates, monitors and ensures compliance with policies pertaining to writing discipline work habits, safety, housekeeping and work schedules.
Initiates, recommends and approves personnel actions such as probation, discipline and disqualifications.
Monitors and approves staff timecards following procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
Required Education: High School Diploma/GED
Years and area of experience (required for the role):
1-3 years of related experience in a heavy manufacturing environment
At least 1 year of supervisory experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Strong written and verbal communications skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of personnel.
Ability to
Supervise employees with moderate latitude for independent judgement to ensure the efficient and accurate performance of daily operations.
Problem solve.
Must be willing to work flexible hours when needed.
Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
5% travel may be necessary.
