Pre K Counts Teacher

*Job Type:* *Full-time * The Pre K Counts Teacher implements accredited educational programs for children enrolled in Day Nursery Association; schedules activities and programs; directs the work of Child Care Assistant Teachers, Aides and Volunteers; and monitors and assesses children’s developmental and educational progress and ensures the supervision of all children by sight and sound at all times; ensures the health and safety of children in care.
*KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:* Examples of key duties are interpreted as being descriptive and not restrictive in nature.
1.
Plans, adapts and schedules age appropriate curriculum involving various activities to stimulate children’s cognitive, physical, social and emotional skills and competencies.
2.
Provides continuous supervision by sight and sound for all children enrolled in Day Nursery Association; 3.
Ensures health and safety of children.
4.
Maintains Center Classrooms, and indoor and outdoor play areas in a clean, orderly, and safe condition; designs and arranges classrooms and areas for various activities which support developmental goals.
5.
Records daily observations of children’s behavior and activities; monitors behavioral patterns and completes assessment and profiles and formatively assesses each child’s goal attainment.
6.
Schedules family conferences to discuss children’s development and concerns; works with family to devise learning and development strategies.
7.
Maintains accurate attendance and enrollment records.
8.
Maintains confidentiality at all times.
9.
Monitors children for signs of child abuse and reports incidents of suspected abuse to appropriate authorities in line with Act 168.
10.
Requests supplies and materials for classroom use.
11.
Maintains current knowledge in the field of Early Childhood Education and Development.
12.
Mentors and supervises additional classroom support staff.
13.
Treats all families, children and staff with respect.
*EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS ABILITY TO: * Implement a program based on sound principles of child development in line with the children’s age, ability, developmental level, language and culture; interact positively with children and act as an appropriate adult role model; meet OCDEL, NAEYC, Head Start, Early Head Start and STARS standards; enforce and apply all laws, rules and regulations; read, understand and interpret standard official legal documents; communicate effectively in English; apply concepts of integrated curriculum development in a non-biased manner; give and follow written and oral instructions; exercise judgment and discretion in analyzing and resolving problems; maintain accurate and detailed records; maintain cooperative working relationships; demonstrate sensitivity to, and respect for a diverse population.
*KNOWLEDGE OF: * Early childhood development and appropriate practices for infants, toddlers, and young children; nurturing, care giving and education of young children; concepts of integrated curriculum development and implementation; principles of observation and assessment of young children; solid foundation in other aspects of child development; principles of family communication and support.
*EDUCATION:* Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field and Pa State Teaching Certification.
