ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND OBJECTIVES: The Application Developer is responsible for evaluating, designing, modifying, implementing, and integrating applications to support and enhance the College’s business process needs.
He/She will collaborate with stakeholders to reach shared goals and contribute to the creative departmental strategic planning process.
He/She must have a clear understanding of Lackawanna College’s mission and vision along with the creative skills to drive technology and help shape its future.
The Application Developer must demonstrate a passion for technology and learning by actively seeking to broaden knowledge on emerging system and design tools, techniques and technologies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1.
Responsible for the day-to-day operation, integration, maintenance, and user support of the College Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Student Information System (SIS), intranet/portal environment, the underlying databases, and related systems and services.
2.
Collaborate with end users to translate business needs into technical requirements.
Create functional/technical specifications, design, develop, document, test, and deliver the process.
3.
Ability to identify opportunities where emerging technologies could have a positive impact on College business processes; conceptualize, scope, and implement solutions; set deliverables and milestones.
4.
Build relationships with stakeholders; maintain regular communication; understand user expectations.
5.
Contribute to building required level of documentation for requirements, design, code and implementation process.
6.
Plan, test, and troubleshoot server application and data software upgrades, patches, and hot fixes.
7.
Maintain user accounts and permissions.
8.
Training staff on database/system operation as needed.
9.
Maintain data integrity and security.
10.
Work with administrative users on standardizing data collection and creating workflow procedures to automate and streamline departmental processes.
11.
Perform regular backups of data and applications.
12.
Create and design custom data reports for College departments and client module managers/staff.
13.
All other duties as assigned.
KEY COMPETENCIES: 1.
Technical Capacity.
a.
Strong understanding of data design, architecture, relational databases, and data modeling.
(MSSQL preferred) b.
Comfortable working everywhere in the stack (databases, server-side, client-side, user interface) c.
Knowledge of GIT pipeline and/or Microsoft IIS a plus.
d.
Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and programming tools.
2.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
3.
Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively.
4.
Problem Solving/Analysis.
5.
Project Management.
6.
Strong mindset for innovation, continuous improvement and desire to exceed expectations.
7.
High-level of self-initiative, creativity, and flexibility.
8.
Thorough understanding of all aspects of software development life cycle and quality control practices.
9.
Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment and independently analyze and resolve complex problems.
EDUCATION: Associate’s Degree with relevant work experience required.
Bachelor’s Degree in technology related field preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three years of experience with SQL databases and transactional processing required.
(Microsoft SQL preferred) Minimum of three years programming and system analysis (C#, .
NET, JAVA, PHP, ASP, XML, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, and REST or similar languages preferred) Prior experience creating reporting tools (InfoMaker preferred) and/or tools to automate and optimize processes.
Experience with Jenzabar a plus.
