This position is unlike any other, because Bear Creek Camp is unlike any other.
We're a unique organization that continues to hold the well-being of our staff as primary while serving our guests with excellence.
Likewise, we're looking for a new member of our team that is reliable, flexible, and able to fit into the fluctuations that characterize our camp year and is looking to be a part of a team that goes above and beyond in caring for our guests and one another.
The Food Service Manager shall serve the mission of Bear Creek Camp through providing quality food service execution to provide nutritious, well-prepared meals that are served to all campers, staff, and guests throughout the year.
September - May: Food service is most often provided for retreats Saturday morning through Sunday afternoon with occasional groups during the week.
June - August: Food service is provided for our summer camp program Sunday - Friday and our food service team grows to match the increased demand.
The ideal candidate will be able to take on the additional responsibilities of menu planning, ordering, budgeting, and staffing.
Compensation will adjust as additional roles are assumed.
*Qualifications:* * A desire to work in outdoor ministry and to make campers and guests the number one priority.
* Ability to work with limited supervision in an overall team environment that requires communication * Knowledge of standards of food preparation and serving, storage of food and kitchen procedures * Knowledge of current health and safety laws and practices * Ability to maintain clearances for working with children as required by applicable state and federal law.
*Responsibilities*: 1.
Assist in preparation, cooking, and service of food for meals throughout the summer camp season utilizing standard cooking techniques 2.
Utilize standard commercial food service equipment including stoves, ovens, mixers, grills, and warmers.

Ensure menu and foods prepared accommodate for special food needs including allergies 4.
Assist with set up of food, supplies, and utensils for dining hall distribution 5.
Ensure safe handling of all food storage and leftovers 6.
Ensure routine sanitation and cleaning in the kitchen and of related equipment.
*Essential Abilities:* * Physical ability to lift and carry 50 pounds including unloading food, supplies, and equipment as needed.
* Skills to effectively relate with youth and adults in a positive and supportive manner.
* Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards of the site and facilities and camper and staff behavior.
* Cognitive ability to understand and implement safety regulations and procedures.
* Physical mobility and endurance to perform tasks while standing/walking for long periods of time (60 minutes or more) * Visual and auditory abilities to effectively communicate in-person and through writing.
* Have the physical, mental and emotional endurance to work long hours and irregular schedules.
* Physical ability to walk, stand, sit, climb, kneel, crouch, stoop, and stand to perform job responsibilities.
*About us* Bear Creek Camp is year-round camp and retreat center.
Our primary ministry is our summer camp that serves over 1000 campers and guests from June through August.
Through the remainder of the year we serve weekend and occasional weekday groups including retreats, school groups, family reunions, and other events.
We are committed to helping all who come to Bear Creek Camp the opportunity to explore, celebrate, and grow in nature through our dedication to hospitality and creating enriching and nurturing environments for all people.
Our year-round team of staff consist of a small group of dedicated professionals that appreciate the community atmosphere of Bear Creek Camp.
In the summer our team grows to include over 50 college-aged seasonal staff committed to the life-changing impacts of time in the intentional community of camp.
